Places I Slept

In Brooklyn I groped awkwardly. In New Haven pine needles littered the floor. In Jaffrey I snowshoed with a goat. In LA I pulled into a stranger's home, found a key under the mat, and fell asleep in the first available bed. In Santa Cruz I wore my fat pants and ate my weight in rainbow cookies. In Berkeley I watched Sixteen Candles and ate takeout Thai in a hotel on Valentine's Day. In Fremont I soaked in a tub and knew it was beshert. In Catskill I was a VIP. In Milford I listened to the Delaware River roar in the blank darkness. In Westhampton I dressed up a potato. In Sag Harbor I was up with the sun, resetting, healing.
